ONLY THE LONELY

What I have learned is that my work is at its most incendiary whenever I can summon the courage to abandon my thesis, whenever I can break hard left and unleash black hell along the prairie.” – Bob Hill, 2023

Only The Lonely is a collection of seven long-form essays written between 2018 and 2024. Most of these essays were set against the backdrop of COVID, Trump/Biden, MeToo, cancel culture, and the emergence of AI, with locations that ranged from New York to Los Angeles, from Philadelphia to Las Vegas, from Yosemite to Northern India and beyond. Entire sections of Only The Lonely were written in planes and on trains, in hotel rooms and in rented spaces. Specific entries delve into surf culture, corporate culture, organized religion, spirituality, politics, combat sports, aging, relationships, the artist’s path, and more.
